Project Schedule Change

Greetings from the Chromatic Kingdoms

While I believe the Dragonscales book is good, I also feel the book as a whole being edited by several people is a bit off and I want to produce a high-quality product. To that end, rather than put out a initial release copy which has minor issues, we are going to do a reorganization.

So, I am going to push the First Edition book back a bit and do something few have done in the past. I will make available a  playtest version in PDF and PRINT (If you wish) which all of you can get for free from firesidecreations.com/epdf and click on Dragonscales.

We will continue to work on the initial adventures and anthologies while we reorganize the core book, make a few additions, and refine the character types, Player section, and GM section with the feedback we have and the feedback you can provide.

Anyone who takes the time to read the playtest version, run a game, and provide feedback will get a store credit to use on existing or future products. If you plan to do this, drop me an email at [email protected] and I will send out an evaluation pdf for your use. The kind of feedback I am looking for is what works well as designed, what seems to be missing (if anything), and what is unclear or awkward. If you do not wish to provide feedback you can still grab the PDF of the playtest version for free to look through and try your hand at a game. There is a Q&A forum at http://firesidecreations.com/gameforum/open-discussion/56-q-a-on-dragonscales

Our playtest have gone really well but they were run by people who knew the WCS system from our 77 Worlds product and knew the material for Dragonscales very well (ie: they were not really using the book as printed). Thus your feedback will be very valuable in refining this to a high-quality RPG book. This will also give us an opportunity to add more maps to the book.

Books will still be available at Garycon as well as the large maps of the Chromatic Kingdoms. Product shipments for backers will still go forward next month and a second shipment of the final commercial version of the core book will be shipped once the useful feedback has been taken into account and the reorganization of the material is complete.

Greetings,

For those of you attending Garycon, you are welcome to come by booth 152 FireSideCreations and pick up your copy of Dragonscales Basic core rule book. James M. Ward and Stephen A. Lee will be at the convention and both are running Dragonscales Games.

Of course this means the rulebook is complete! We are doing one last round with first readers on Monday and the book will be on the printers Wednesday morning. Everyone on the Early Shipment reward level will have their books mailed in about 5 days unless you plan to be at Garycon in which case I can bring it to you if you prefer.

Everyone else, I will make every effort to get your books mailed before we depart for the convention. Worse case, your book gets mailed when we return on March 12th.

We have large maps available for the Chromatic Kingdom. Darlene who did the Greyhawk map was kind enough to do the Dragonscales map for us. There will be a promotion for the Maps, Kingdom Book, and Dragonscales card deck in March. Also, during the month of March we have setup a 10% discount in honor of Gary Gygax and the promotions being run for Garycon. Coupon Code GaryconXI will work for everything in our store during the month of March from the convention to my birthday on the 31st.

Here is a picture of Gary Gygax and Stephen A. Lee (on the right) holding up a large canvas of the Greyhawk map. Our large maps are more poster sized of course. You can follow Stephen's other work at http://amazon.com/author/stephenalee

Dragonscales Last Minute Update
over 5 years ago – Tue, Jan 29, 2019 at 11:56:46 AM

Last Minute Update

Greetings. A lot of good feedback and first reader comments came in over the last two weeks. So, while last minute updates are risky at best we have updated and added a bit of content this past week to the Dragonscales RPG core book. Hopefully, few errors were introduced in these changes.

So, What changed? There were a few places where the text and the charts clearly contradicted each other as the various edits from multiple authors ( and editors) did not all make it into the official file for one reason or another and at least one item that made it in which should not have. Now we have a much more solid product and game.

One question was interesting. The book says the character with the most hit points goes first (has initiative) and during the game you had us draw for initiative. Yes, I did. While it makes very logical sence that those among us not physically injured would tend to act more quickly, I still enjoy the random orders each round so I play it that way in my games while James plays it as the rules are written. These are guidelines for the game masters and at the end of the day, the GM runs the game as they wish.

We are pushing the updates through layout again and then directly to the print shop. I believe all the creeping issues have been slain.

DRAGONSCALE'S CORE RULE BOOK

Here are some sample pages, in layout, from the DS1 Core Rule Book. We are very close to handing it off to the printer.

The Prints of the final maps and the collectors name cards for Garycon come in tomorrow. We will begin packing the maps for shipment next week. The rule book should ship by the end of the Month for most backers. The Encounter Encyclopedia - Dragonscales Edition is still in development and will be weeks out, not months.

Enjoy your weekend

Dragonscales - January 14th update

The Final map of the Chromatic Kingdoms is complete and off to the printers. We have 12x18 and 24x36 wall/table maps available.

Greetings, It has been a little while since the last update and I was asked for a shipping date. So, The Dragonscales core book has gone through a second editing effort. It goes into layout this week. I will add the companions section just before we go to print and any last minute revision (I do not expect any) from our playtest on the 19th in Atlanta, Georgia upstairs at the Georgia Beer Garden ( 420 Edgewood Ave SE, Atlanta, GA 30312 ) starting at 2:30 and running until 6pm. You are welcome to come join us.

Shipping date: The best I can give you right now is that we plan to ship all core books before the end of the month. I expect to have final print editions by the 28th.

The core book, anthology, and 4 modules are all in final edit and/or layout and will all be at the print shop by the 21st.
